The threat to innocent lives is a clear and present danger, which we must not ignore
WASHINGTON, DC, June 9 – “The barbarians are at the gate and yet there are those among us who argue that there is no need to bar the gate. It doesn’t make sense. The threat of radical Islamic terrorism has accelerated since 9/11 at a rate that should send shivers up and down our spines. But, we can’t do anything about it until we acknowledge the danger and do something about it,” says Dan Weber, president of the Association of Mature American Citizens.
Weber says that he is “perplexed by the politically-motivated, mindsets of too many individuals identifying themselves as loyal, caring Americans. The latest manifestation of this uncaring attitude toward the dangers we face came from Senator Chris Murphy, D-CT soon after the massacre on London Bridge last Saturday night, which killed eight people and wounded another 48. He felt compelled to tweet a message that read: ‘@POTUS has no idea that the goal of terrorists is to instill a level of fear in the public disproportionate to the actual threat.’ The implication seems to be that there is no need to use tactics such as extreme vetting at our borders of individuals from nation’s where radical Islamic terrorism thrives.”
But, Weber adds, fear of ISIS and its ilk is based on the massive loss of human lives around the world at the hands of terrorists. It poses a real threat to the lives of Americans as witnessed too many times over the past few decades. It warrants stricter rules of entry at our borders.”
President Franklin Roosevelt said after the attacks on Pearl Harbor that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself. “But, as Uri Friedman, who writes on Global Affairs at The Atlantic magazine, put it: before fear can be feared, it has to be reckoned with,” says Weber.
Friedman noted in his article that former President Barak Obama avoided connecting terrorism directly to extremist interpretations of Islam. “After attackers killed 130 people in Paris, for example, Obama scoffed at reporters’ questions about whether the bloodshed would change his ISIS strategy.”
President Trump directly links terrorism with radical Islam and is upping the ante in the civilized world’s fight to destroy ISIS, according to Weber. “His so-called travel ban is not a ban, at all. It is a common sense approach to protecting our country. Without vetting we risk the mindless, senseless slaughter of innocents at the hands of extremist infiltrators – the same moles who wreak havoc, on a regular basis, throughout Europe where vetting has been minimal, at best.”
The critics need to disavow the notion that people get killed all the time for any number of reasons, Weber says. “We don’t leave our doors and windows unlocked lest intruders find a way in. Likewise, we must secure our borders because terrorism is a clear and present danger that we must not ignore. Those who seek political gain say that when we take action against the threat of terrorism, we are actually showing a bias against Muslims. But, murder is murder no matter what the religion of the perpetrators. Terrorism is not a political issue for America. It’s a threat with which we must deal in order to protect the homeland. Just ask the families of the victims in Manchester, London, Paris, San Bernardino, New York and Washington DC.”

Correction Mr. Weber: The barbarians are NOT at the gate. Many have already made their way inside the country as indicated by the over 1,000 open surveillance cases of Islamic extremists or their sympathizers being tracked by our federal government. All President Trump did was put into effect a restriction on travel from the seven countries that Obama administration intelligence agencies already had identified as posing the greatest, because of those countries have little to no effective means to suitably verify who any of these people really are or whether they are indeed Islamic extremists or not. Absolutely nothing wrong with putting measures into place to safeguard the security of the American people by restricting who can enter this country. That is an authority granted to the President by the Constitution, so the rulings by the various liberal federal appeals courts are incorrect. They are NOT ruling based on law, but rather personal political beliefs that have no place in arguing the merits of the specific Presidential executive order in front of them. Their sole responsibility is to decide the constitutionality of the physical document in front of them. The executive order restricting travel from the seven countries listed. NOT to inject their personal beliefs of what they think President Trump really might have meant or to factor in what, if anything, he may or may not have said on the campaign trail. Neither of those two items is relevant to the legal matter before them, which is whether the President of the United States has the authority to impose restrictions upon whom can travel into or out of the United States as it pertains to the President’s concerns about national security. Clearly the President does, but since these liberal federal appellate judges, many of which are Obama appointees which shows the dangers of the establishment Senate Republicans just rubber stamping these things, refuse to rule on the actual legal merits of the case properly, the matter is now going before the United States Supreme Court.
Obama had all this intelligence information from his agencies, but decided NOT to act on it due to his political beliefs that the United States needed to punished for past perceived sins against the world. So he not only refused to act on this data, but actively planned to import hundreds of thousands more from these countries. Which would have increased the probability of many more terrorist attacks here like what Europe is now experiencing thanks to Angela Merkel allowing over 1.5 million so-called “refugees” to flood into Europe in the last two years. It is too late for Europe at this point, as authorities don’t even know where most of these people are now in the various European countries. However, we still have a chance to at least minimize the threat here to some degree. The longer the liberals manage to delay allowing Trump to put some reasonable constraints on people we have no way of truly vetting, the higher the probability that those that seek to harm us will use this opportunity to gain access to our country.
I believe that the goal of Islam is to dominate all. In that big-picture sense, the barbarians ARE in fact, figuratively, at the gate. We’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg of what these aptly described “barbarians” are committed to doing. I thank God that we have a strong leader in President Trump who is willing to call a spade a spade, use the words “radical islamic terrorism”, and confront the issue without regard for political-correctness.
