WASHINGTON, DC, Oct 14 — There’s more to the Critical Race Theory than the indoctrination of America’s schoolchildren. To be sure, its obvious objective is to turn the next generations against their American heritage. But it has a hidden aspect with the potential to turn otherwise patriotic adults into co-conspirators.
Judicial Watch says that it has received a training document from a whistleblower. It’s a training document from a Rhode Island school district that shows how teachers promote the CRT agenda. The school district denies this but, according to Judicial Watch, “The training course for the Westerly School District in Rhode Island was assembled by the left-leaning Highlander Institute and cites quotes from Bettina Love, from whom the Biden administration distanced itself publicly after her statements equating “whiteness” to oppression.”
Christopher F. Rufo is a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute and has written extensively on the Critical Race Theory. In one of his articles published in the magazine City Journal, he provided a comprehensive description of what CRT is all about. It notes that while its main purpose is to indoctrinate young students with the principles of Marxism, the goal is to force Marxism’s communist ideology on mainstream American adults and institutions:
“Critical Race Theory is an academic discipline, formulated in the 1990s and built on the intellectual framework of identity-based Marxism. Relegated for many years to universities and obscure academic journals, it has increasingly become the default ideology in our public institutions over the past decade. It has been injected into government agencies, public school systems, teacher training programs, and corporate human-resources departments, in the form of diversity-training programs, human-resources modules, public-policy frameworks, and school curricula.”
According to Rufo, the federal government and corporate America, in a number of cases, have adopted CRT-like “reeducation” initiatives aimed at their employees. He says that the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, the Treasury Department, and Sandia National Laboratories, a contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy, have sent white employees to “workshops.” The purpose: to promote guilt for being racist.
In at least one such instance, he says, “executives were then forced to renounce their “white male privilege” and to write letters of apology to fictitious women and people of color.”
In another article, he wrote for the City Journal, headlined The Child Soldiers of Portland, he charges that public schools in Portland “are training children to become race-conscious revolutionaries.” And, he claims that the CRT is responsible for outbreaks of violent “street militias, calling themselves ‘antiracists’ and ‘antifascists’ who smash windows and torch the property of anyone transgressing the new moral law.”
Rufo says things have gotten worse since President Biden took office, right from the get-go. He says that on Inauguration Day, teenagers were engaged in mayhem in Portland. They attacked the offices of the Democratic Party and unfurled banners with messages such as “We don’t want Biden, we want revenge” and “A new world from the ashes.”
These types of demonstrations got ugly and deadly in an incident he described as “protests and riots” that escalated. It involved a 16-year-old girl armed with a metal baseball bat who accompanied her abusive father, Michael Forest Reinoehl.
Reinoehl was a felon who had been arrested for rioting and carrying a loaded gun, and, in a separate incident, he was wounded in a confrontation in the streets of Portland. In both occasions, he had his daughter with him. “I have my daughter here with me because I’m trying to give her an education. The fact is, she’s going to be contributing to running this new country that we’re fighting for. And she’s going to learn everything on the street,” he told reporters.
In a separate criminal encounter, Reinoehl shot and killed a Trump supporter, fled to nearby Washington state, wound up in an armed confrontation with police, was shot, and was killed.
James Lindsay is another expert on the subject of the Critical Race Theory, and he says, “It literally was designed by Marxists who hoped to take over America with Communism.” He cites a dyed-in-the-wool Marxist who introduced CRT in America in 1937, Max Horkheimer. Horkheimer gave up on Marxism when it dawned on him that America’s working-class did not think of themselves as being “oppressed” and, thus, were not likely to turn into communists overnight and not even in the long run.
Horkheimer came to the conclusion that Marxists would have a hard time convincing Americans that communism offered an “idealized” a better way of life, and so he gave up.
As Lindsay put it: “Critical Theory was designed to tear apart the existing society, not because it fails but specifically because it works. And if it works, you don’t have a Marxist revolution.”
Thus, the point of CRT is to create reasons for Americans to feel bad about their lives and about their country. The Marxists of yore could not convince U.S. citizens that they were oppressed; thus, the socialist elements of today seek to make us feel guilty.
And so, according to a Heritage Foundation report, CRT “makes race the prism through which its proponents analyze all aspects of American life.” It “underpins identity politics, which reimagines the U.S. as a nation riven by groups, each with specific claims on victimization.” It teaches that “intolerance can be found in schools, the workplace, and the entertainment sector, ‘normalizing’ belief in systemic racism for the average American.”
